Liver disorders and how to prevent them?

The liver is the largest and one of the most important organs. In addition to storing proteins and carbohydrates, it acts as a filter to remove toxins and cleanse our blood.

Normally, the liver is capable of repairing itself over time. But unfortunately, due to our lifestyle, the foods we eat and alcohol consumption, our liver is being exposed to more damage.

Some of the most common liver diseases are:
  1. ·    Acute Hepatitis (Sudden Inflammation),
  2. ·        Chronic Hepatitis,
  3. ·        Fatty liver disease.

While alcohol and drug use are the main cause of all three disorders, poor eating habits can also cause fatty liver disease.

Unlike other diseases, liver disorders don’t show any direct symptoms. Some of the most common symptoms include:
·        Abdominal Pain,
·        Nausea and vomiting,
·        Swelling of legs and ankles,
·        Easily getting bruised,
·        Fatigue.
What to do if you have a liver disorder?

With proper diet and exercise, you can easily restore your liver to normal condition.

Diet:

Each of us is different so it’s better to consult a doctor to find the right diet for you.
Foods that are good for your liver:
  • ·        Fish and seafood,
  • ·        Berries,
  • ·        Tea,
  • ·        Wholegrain,
  • ·        Nuts (especially walnuts)
  • ·        Leafy veggies,
  • ·        Foods that are rich in fiber.

Even if you don’t have a liver condition, it’s better to avoid fried foods and include the above-mentioned foods in your diet.
Exercise:

If you have non-alcoholic fatty liver then in addition to following a healthy diet it’s important to do exercise and workout to burn down the fats. Let it be simple pushups and planks, try to work out for an hour every day.

And if you are in a deskbound job, try to walk whenever you get the chance.

Organic Liver Supplements:

There is obviously a natural remedy for every disease and liver disorders are no exception. You can find various manufacturers selling “Organic liver tonic” that can aid in repairing the damaged liver and boosts the liver function.

There isn’t enough proof to confirm if the liver supplements work but the main ingredients in most of the organic liver supplies include: milk thistle, dandelion root, ginger, amla, and artichoke leaf and all of them are proved to boost the liver function.

While most of the products are genuine, there are still many fake products being sold in the market. So, make sure you are getting the right product.
