Liver Health

Just type “Liver cleanse” or “Liver detox” in your browser, you’ll probably see a lot of products available in the form of soft gels, capsules, and liquids.

And they all have a similar claim that these supplements can help to improve the liver function and so on.

Even though they all sound promising, you probably would have wondered, “Do these products really work? Are they safe?”

Let’s find out.

Are liver supplements safe to use?

Most liver supplements are made from ingredients like mile thistle, dandelion roots, turmeric, ginger, and artichoke leaf which are in fact, beneficial for the liver.

So yes, liver supplements are indeed safe to use.

Do liver supplements work?

As we all know liver performs over 500 functions every day. And removing toxins is one of them. Usually, even when it gets damaged our liver itself overtime. But if we keep damaging it without giving it time to recover, then it will eventually give up and rot away (Literally).

Liver supplements are made to aid our liver’s detoxification process and help in regeneration.

But the thing is, these liver supplements are one size fit for all. But all of us have different circumstances; our body reacts differently to certain medication, toxins and so on.

So, what works for your friend might not work for you.

And another thing to notice is that even though most of the ingredients used in liver supplements are good for the liver, there is no scientific evidence to back up their claims.

Can I use liver supplements to improve my liver function?

I don’t think that’s necessary. You can get the same benefits from using liver supplements just by following a proper diet and exercising. Because liver supplements are made to treat people with liver disorders.

How can I protect my liver from toxins?

I’ll be honest, you can’t. Toxins are all around us. From the air we breathe to the food we eat, they all contain toxins.

Hard to believe, right? But it’s the truth.

And they can easily get into us through our lungs, skin, and the food we eat. But the good news is, our build-in detoxifier aka liver can easily get rid of all these toxins.

What we can do is be kind to our liver and avoid adding more toxins into our body through smoking, alcohol, and poor diet.

Bottom line:

You don’t have to make any drastic changes in your lifestyle or spend a lot of money to keep your liver healthy.

Just be careful about what you put in your body.
